I'm excited for Obama being the new President of the United States, and it looks like I'm not alone.
I just woke up (5.40 am down here in old EU) and had a quick look at Twitter. That gave me a clear sensation of how heavy are the expectations on this man.
I'm re-posting some links, in no specific order, just to give you a vague idea:
Mattew Ebel writes "Oh my God, I am so happy right now. [...] I am full of hope. I look forward to the future".
Brett Nordquist (aka @Akula): "Can we give Bush his full deposit to move out early?"
Abby says YES WE DID! and Halle-freakin-lujah!
Ariel Waldman shares my same feeling "Wow, so much emotion in my twitter feed!"
Cathryn Hrudicka "Firecrackers and cheers all over my neighborhood! People may be up all night here and across the country.:-)"
Laura Fitton is posting celebrations on Qik.
And even fellow european Loic Lemeur is congratulating.
This is just a small and unscientific sample. You can of course have a look yourself unless yet another fail whale comes. But the night doesn't look like it's the right one. Unless, of course, it's the McCain Fail Whale.
This man has just won the election. The challenge in front of him are only comparable to the expectations the world has on him.
Honestly, I'm happy too. Now I can just hope Hugh McLeod draws one of those Blue Monsters for him, too.
